박기태님 글 좋습니다. 그러나...   글쓴이 : kopsa     날짜 : 02-11-06 18:53     조회 : 4733     박기태님 글 좋습니다. 그러나... 박기태님이 누구신지? 좋은 글입니다. 그러나 아름다운 인용 문구로 유사 과학을 정당화하지는 못합니다. 유사과학 중 큰 범위를 차지하는 온갖 초 정상 현상과 그 근저에 있는 것으로 믿는 신비로운 힘은 과학이라고 보기 어렵습니다. 앞으로 과학이 될지 모른다고 하실 지 모릅니다. 그러나 그 기원을 더듬어 보면 본래 과학이 아니며 일부 추종자의 오랜 증명(과학화) 시도에도 불구 하고 결과가 없다는 것이 이를 말해 줍니다. 과학의 싹이라면 이런 경우가 없습니다.  우리는 합리적인 사고, 합리적인 생활을 위해 그리고 건강을 위해 유사과 학을 버리고 과학을 택하라고 말해야 할 것입니다. 루이스 토머스가 누구 인지, 아래 찾아보았는데 이 사람인지 모르겠습니다. 언제 방문하시면 정확 성 여부를 알려 주십시오.        Lewis Thomas  (1913-1993) LINKS BookPage Interview: Dr. Lewis Thomas http://www.bookpage.com/BPinterviews/thomas492.html This interview, from April 1992, provides insight into the author and his work The Fragile Species. BIOGRAPHY Lewis Thomas (1913-1993) was born in Flushing, New York. The son of a surgeon, he graduated from Princeton University and in 1937 earned an M.D. from Harvard. In his distinguished medical career, he combined an active practice with teaching and administration. He served as dean of the medical schools of Yale and New York Universities and was chief executive officer of the Sloan-Kettering Institute in New York City at the time of his death. His many scientific papers earned him membership in the National Academy of Sciences. But even as a medical student, Thomas displayed literary ambition and published a number of poems. In 1971, he began contributing a regular column, "Notes of a Biology Watcher," to the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. Some of these essays he collected and published in 1974 as The Lives of a Cell: Notes of a Biology Watcher. These graceful essays found a sizable audience and won the National Book Award. Subsequent essay collections include The Medusa and the Snail (1979) and Late Night Thoughts on Listening to Mahler's Ninth Symphony (1983).
