KOPSA의 기독교 창조론, 특히 한국의 주류인 창조과학에 대한 판단은 "진화론 창조론 산책"에 충분히 분석돼 있습니다. KOPSA는 과학 내지 과학 교육의 측면에서 창조과학이 과학을 왜곡시키는 문제의 심각성을 지적합니다. 또한 창조과학은 종교적 측면에서도 자기 파괴적이라고 생각합니다. 기독교 국가인 미국에서조차 창조과학은 더 이상 교육적 논의의 대상이 아니며 현재 진화론 창조론 교육 논쟁은(예, 가장 최근 미네소타 주) 진화론에 더하여 지적 설계론을 포함시켜야 할지의 범위에서 벌어지고 있습니다. 그러나 지적 설계론 또한 (과학 그 자체로 보아도 과학성에서 결핍된) 신창조론에 다름 아니기 때문에 아래 참조 기사(2003년 11월, 텍사스 주)에서 보듯이 온전한 다윈의 진화론에 의거한 교과서가 채택되고 있습니다.   KOPSA는 창조과학 문제의 심각성을 지적하는 노력을 하고 있습니다. "진화론 창조론 산책"(2쇄)을 한국창조과학회의 송만석 회장, 이웅상 부회장, 김정훈 교수에게 우송하였고 한국창조과학회의 중요 구성원으로 생각되는 60여명에게는 별도로 "진화론 창조론 산책 안내"를 우송한 바 있습니다. KOPSA의 뜻은 아래와 같이 국민일보 남병곤 기자에게 책을 우송하며  보낸 메일에 나타나 있는 대로 분명합니다.  "이 책은 사실은 한국창조과학회를 걱정하는 마음으로 썼습니다. 취약한 기반 위에서 무엇을 하고, 또 무엇을 쌓아올리는 것이 위태롭다고 생각합니다. 종교를 어눌하게 만든다고 표현했으나 그 노력이 결국은 결실을 맺지 못하고 무너질 것이라고 예측합니다." 2004년  KOPSA는 언론 등을 통해 기독교인을 포함한 일반인에게 창조과학의 문제를 알리며, 생물과학교육학회 및 생물 교사 등과 교육 현장에까지 스며들고 있는 창조과학의 문제를 논의하려고 합니다. 또한 한국창조과학회가 응한다면 토론을 통해 문제를 분명히 하여 활동의 전환 내지 개선을 설득하며, 마지막으로 교사 연수 프로그램 등 한국창조과학회의 핵심 활동을 제한하지 않을 수 없는 상황이 될 것임을 말하려고 합니다. ............................... *참조 기사 Posted on Fri, Nov. 07, 2003  Board gives final approval to biology books APRIL CASTRO Associated Press AUSTIN - Biology books in Texas will continue to present the origin of life according to the theories of Charles Darwin. The State Board of Education gave final approval Friday to 11 biology books, among others, despite a major campaign to poke holes in Darwin's theory of evolution as presented in the textbooks. School districts in Texas will be able to purchase books from the approved list for use beginning in the 2004-2005 school year. Texas Education Agency Director Robert Scott said any factual errors in the books would be addressed by publishers before the books become available. The decision could impact dozens of states because books sold in Texas, the nation's second-largest buyer of textbooks, are often marketed elsewhere. Texas, California and Florida account for more than 30 percent of the nation's $4 billion public school book market. Three dozen publishers invest millions of dollars in Texas. Some alternative science groups had argued that weaknesses in the theory of evolution weren't adequately presented in the books. But scientists and educators argued that the theory is widely believed and is a cornerstone of modern scientific research. The Seattle-based Discovery Institute was one of the most vocal opponents of including criticisms of evolution in the book. "We were also hoping that the Board would require textbooks to include coverage of the peer-reviewed scientific weaknesses of evolutionary theory," said Bruce Chapman, president of the Discovery Institute. "Unfortunately, there wasn't a majority on the Board that was willing to enforce that." Institute officials said they will continue to publicize what they call errors and weaknesses in Darwin's theory as presented in some books. Board member David Bradley made an unsuccessful attempt to amend the adoption measure Friday to place all but two of the items on a "non-conforming" list. School districts would still have the option of purchasing the books, but use of non-conforming books in Texas is rare. Bradley maintained that criticisms of the theory of evolution weren't religious. Bradley voted against preliminary approval Thursday, which passed in an 11-4 vote. Final approval came on a voice vote. Despite the religious implications of evolution, several churches and ministers throughout Texas signed a letter to the board in opposition of "attempts dilute, distort or censor the teaching of evolution in biology textbooks." "We believe religious convictions about the origin of life are sacred and should be cultivated and strengthened in homes and houses of worship," the statement said. "We further believe that efforts to insert religious beliefs into science textbooks misunderstand and demean both faith and science." .....................................
